News and General Rumberlings From Nikobishunde
24/09/2018 - Both Nikita and Abbey have been mated. We should know around the 9th October 2018 wether either of the mating have been successful after they have ultrasounds conducted. Nikita was a natural mating and Abbey had a TCI (Transcervical Insemination). Regardless of results this will be Nikita's final mating as she is approaching 8years old in December
26/10/2016 - Those who have purchesed puppies from us, please be advised that due to internet provider TPG utterly stuffing up our landline and not being able to rectify their errors which caused the problems, we are in the process of moving to a new provider. This means our landline number and email address will be changing. Please use the "CONTACT US" page on this site to email us. Sorry for any inconveniance.

16/03/2016 - We can now offer Microchipping and have two very competative rates for those living in Sydney and surrounds:
1. Microchip and addition to the NSW Companion Animal Register (this is a leagl requirement for any cat or dog in NSW over the age of 8 weeks) $15.
2. Microchip, addition to the NSW Companion Animal Register plus registration with the Australasian Animal Registry (AAR) $19
We use the smaller midi chips which also means smaller implanter (needle). There maybe a small fee to cover fuel/tolls but will be advised when chipping is booked.

Kai
27/10/2015 - Happy 1st birthday to our Long Stock Coat girl Nikobishunde Dream Weaver (Kai).
If ever there was a GSD full of "self importance" it is Kai. With her it is all "me me me" lol :-)
Kai is a daughter from Ch *Nikobishunde Auspicious Amelia AZ (Leah).

Sydney Royal Easter Show - Purina Sydney Royal Dog Show 2015
Nikobishunde Auspicious Amelia was awarded 1st Inter Bitch, Runner up Best of Breed, & Reserve Bitch Challenge by Mr Manuel Querjero (Mexico)
Her critique from the Judge
A bitch, I think in this breed the bitches were much better then the males. This was a little larger bitch, incredible mover, great angulation, beautiful side gait.
Kai

We welcome Kai as the newest addition to our pack. For our Kiwi friends, yes Kai is Maori for "food" but in Burmese, Kai means "strong" though our most liked meaning is the Swahili meaning, "loveable".
Kai is a Long Stock Coat (LSC - also referred to as a Long Coat or Long Hair) from a mating between our girl Nikobishunde Auspicious Amelia (Leah) and Jaknell Coz I'm Tnt (Angus). It has been almost 5 years since we lost our last LSC girl (Tammy) to that hideous condition called bloat. Our intention is to have both Short Stock Coat and Long Stock Coat types of GSDs in our Kennel with our hopes on Kai being our foundation LSC bitch dependent on her future development and AZ stamps of course. However while she is young, she will be given every encouragement to be a puppy and enjoy life. Like anyone with children, parents have hopes and aspirations for their kids. Our human children are now all grown up and our focus is now on our fur kids and wanting the best for them (to our grandchildren, yes we love you too!). And if she does not develop as hoped? She will still have a long and happy life in our home with the rest of the pack.

Abbey and Leah litters
Well Abbey and Leah have both had their first litters each and we are very happy with the results. Abbey on the 2nd Oct 2014 had 3 girls and 6 boys while Leah on the 27th Oct 2014 had 2 girls and 8 boys though 1 boy was sadly lost at birth due to a complication. Both mums and babies are doing well.
We are going to run on a nice boy for a little while but will be looking to place him in a show home. He is a real "people" dog and super keen to please. Picture of him on the right is as 5 Weeks old It looks like Leah has given us 2 maybe 3 long coats, both girls and maybe a boy. This has us excited as we are keeping one of the girls and will be our first show long coat. She is very well pigmented (rich deep colour) and we can only hope she will be show worthy. Pic of her below at 2 weeks. |
Leah Breed Surveyed

The Breed survey scheme is in place to offer guidance for the uniform development of the German Shepherd Dog as per the breed standard in breeders programs. Dogs and bitches can be awarded classification in either Breed Survey Class 1 (far above average) or Breed Survey Class 11 (above average) if it is expected that they will contribute to the overall improvement of the breed in Australia.

We are very pleased to announce that both have passed and received their "A" "Z" stamps from the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia. This means both girls are suitable for breeding in regards to the soundness of their hips and elbows (which can be a problem in GSDs).

A change in Showing 18/04/2014
Have found it problematic showing the two Junior girls at the same show. They feed off each others energy and was had to find someone to handle one of them while I had the other. We started placing them in different classes (one in Junior and the other in Australian Bred) but as there is not that much between them, found they were winning their classes and then both had to go into "Groups" judging at the same time. There they would play up with each other and hurt both their chances.
Solution is we will show just one at any given show. This way their excitement levels are down and they work more calmly than being hyped up playing machines :-)
